A goodbye from a place

 

It's a little different this time. Not only me, and photos from the phone. 

Tel Aviv used to be full in vegan restaurants. There are still some vegan restaurants, but many of those restaurants has been closed. I'm a vegetarian who loves vegan restaurants (well, when I don't go to Italian restaurants, or where I can get fried rice, my favorite sushi place or hummus). One of the vegan restaurants that still stayed so far is Goodness at King George St. I love this place! A diner style, all vegan. This place has been open 12 years ago. At the start - at one place at King George St. After few years it moved across the road. Two years ago - Ilil Yahav, the manager through to close this place. Because of many clients who wanted this place open - it stayed. Recently I saw that she's looking for someone to replace her in the place and make it a different restaurant. I sa how much money costs the rent (a lot!). And that's it. Three special evenings with some food that used to be there and stopped with it. One more evening because of many people who ordered a table. I was one. I went to say "goodbye". I came without my camera (I guess it was a mistake). After I got my food - I asked a waiter to take my photo. I took a photo also of my food. I took a fast photo with my phone, ran to wash my hands. A guy sat in the table next to me, probably the last free table. He looked over my food, so... Stressed me. So I noticed that the photo wasn't good enough when it was too late. At least the desert went OK with the phone. I orderd home burger (which mean with mushrooms instead of a dead cow). I thought maybe ordinary fires, but instead I was choosing home fries. Probably I took the last home fries, cause the guy next to me became jealous and wanted home fries because he saw my order, he's been told that it's finished and he can take ordinary fries. For desert I took bianco toffee. It's with peanuts. First time I was eating it, sadly probably also last time. It all was so good. And the place was full. If it wasn't for saying goodbye - it could be happy. 

One more special. And few more ordinary days. After that won't be Goodness.

So, not my best, photos with the phone, but... Just to say that there was a vegan restaurant called Goodness at Tel Aviv. And I'm sad that soon this place won't be around, not this way

The story

 

It took me a while to wonder if I should share it here.
Well, I have screenshot, and I'm proud in that moment.

There are some really good vegan restaurants at Tel Aviv. 
One vegan restaurant that I love is Goodness.
Recently they shared a photo that I took there with a vegan chocolata. First it was at an Instagram story (I've been tagged, so I had the chance for this screenshor). After that at their Facebook page. Both times with the correct photography credit.
By the way I found out that the manager of the restaurant sees me as a famous photographer. Well, a nice way to find out that I'm famous :-)

This is not a steak

 

Once again I returned to Goodness.

It's a vegan restaurant at Tel Aviv that I love, probably my favorite vegan restaurant in the city. Once again I went without my pro camera (why?). I was thinking to take something ordinary from the menu. Well... Recently they started to have some vegan steaks of Chunk (if I spell it correct). The manager was visiting her father at USA and found out those steaks. Till now it was impossible to find those at Israel. The manager of Goodness found her way to bring it to Israel and it's possible to find and eat it only at Goodness, if you wnt to eat it in Israel. So far only at certain days/evenings. I missed all the special days from so many reasons and I started to think that I missed it forever. So, a cute waitress who served me (again) told me that it's possible to find two versions of it in a special menu. If I want to - I can choose one. I did take one with chimichurri. It comes with a bit of cauliflower at the side. All of it on some mash potatoes. It looks like the "real thing" and have some texture of meat, which makes it really stressing in the start. I'm not vegan, I'm a vegetarian who try to go some more to the vegan. First time in my life that I ate something that meant to be a steat or instead. I really loved it! 

And I 'm glad that I didn't notice the terrible photos that has been published to promote it for the restaurant. I hate to admit, but the photos that has been published for marketing by name of the restaurant are terrible. And a photographer can make some good photos with the phone in certin situations. So, up is the vegan steak that I ordered, one moment before I pulled it into my stomach. A phone photo that I took. And I enjoyed eating it.

Fine dining at Goodness

I wasn't sure if to write about it here. After all - I didn't come as a food journalist, even the photos has been taken with the phone and not the real camera.

There is a vegan restaurant at Tel Aviv that I love (OK, more than one, but I wrote about one). The the name of the restaurant is Goodness. It used to be at one place at King George Street, moved to another place at the same street. Goodness is a vegan restaurant that has started 10 years ago. Survied some difficult times like Covid19. The war almost made it closed, but too many people wanted to still have this place. It's a vegan place, a diner style kind of food. The "home dose" is a burger based on mushrooms (personally - I love it!).

This week Goodness had a special evening. One evening of fine dining, of course still 100% vegen. The chef Bat-El Kori made few dishes for the restaurant. I took a pastry based on corn with cashew. It comes with a salad beside. I finished with desert that was that evening - a vanila semifreddo. This time I was drinking a cocktail. The cocktail was based on oranges and some other good fruits.

I have to say that although I love the ordinary menu at Goodness - that was refrashing. It was amazing to see again that even vegan can be fine dining which made by a chef. It was unforgettable evening in a good way
